Description

The velkraan is a majestic creature resembling a massive salamander, enveloped in the essence of fiery embers. Its scales shimmer in a vibrant palette of red, orange, and a hint of molten gold, each scale edged with a faint, incandescent glow that illuminates its path. The creature's elongated body and broad, flat head lend it a serpentine grace, while its eyes, glowing like coals, pierce through the smoky veils of its volcanic home.

Behavior

The velkraan is a pack creature, known for its territorial nature. Their packs roam the fiery depths of volcanic mountain ranges, where they are most often found basking near lava flows or mountainous hot spots. It communicates using deep, resonant growls and a series of shimmering visual displays created by the heat waves radiating off its body.

While velkraans do not possess the ability to breathe fire, they have a remarkable ability to heat up their limbs to incredibly high temperatures. This adaptation allows them to grab and manipulate rocks, heating them until they reach a molten state, which they then hurl at their prey or enemies, turning these rocks into lethal projectiles.

Usage

Velkraans hold a significant role in the military strategies of Ignistan. The Velkraani Riders, forming the most elite knight unit of the Ignistan army, are renowned for their bravery and skill.

Diet

Velkraans primarily feed on a diet rich in minerals and metals, which they derive from the rocks and ores found within its volcanic environment. They are capable of melting these substances with the intense heat of their limbs to make them digestible. While not common, velkraans are known to also feed on small to medium creatures if the situation requires it.
